CSW-MERCY Orphanage Update – May 20th

Greetings from Phnom Penh, Cambodia!!

First, a special thank you to the Sharon Wong Foundation and our dear brother, Dennis Wong, who have pledged additional funds in support of the CSW-MERCY Orphanage.  With this generous donation we will begin the work on the Boys Bedroom and the Game Room / Auditorium, which will become our meeting place for the Phnom Penh International Christian Church!

Two of the kids – Golyan and Kim Lang (to my left and right) – had serious tooth aches this week.  It appears they need root canals!!  We have partnered with a local medical and dental university, International University, that runs medical and dental clinics for the disadvantaged.  Here is Sam (6th year) and Sampos (4th year), along with Srey Nich, the big sister in the Orphanage.

Srey Nich cheers up Golyan who was tearfully scared to take novicane prior to the dental work!!

The kids are excited to go on a road trip … to the ZOO – lions and tigers and bears …

Big brother, Heng, and his wife, Solika, were the chaperones for the trip to the zoo in the nearby province of Takeo

Crocodiles!! Kim Lang and Kachana are grateful for the fence between them and the Crocodiles that are lurking close by

Snack anyone?  Yummy … seasoned, roasted Crickets!!

Refreshments and group photo to close out the day

I met a Finnish couple, Jarri and Tiia today.  We had lunch after and they shared about living and working – for a Finnish Christian charity organization, Fida – in one of the most isolated countries of the world, North Korea!  Fascinating to hear first hand about the harsh living conditions yet optimism of the people. They interact freely with the people but little is verbally shared because of government surveillance.  So the people watch your life very closely as it speaks volumes about who you are and what you believe (1 Timothy 4:15-16).  Very convicting!  Pray for Jarri and Tiia, that their new assignmnet will bring them to Phnom Penh

A special thank you to all of you who are sacrificing so much for fundraising and giving efforts.  Denise and I are very honored and eternally grateful to have this opportunity to serve our Lord on the Mission Field.

We are family to the end, Bold and Unashamed.  To God be all the glory.

Love, Nick and Denise
